On March 26 2010, we lwelcomed the Reverend Dr. Richard Tardiff as our Rector. The ministry is a second career for Fr. Tardiff, who retired in 2000 from a long career in public education in Alaska, where he worked as a teacher, counselor, and administrator. Fr. Dick and his wife Pamela, herself a retired educator, both earned graduate degrees at UH Manoa during the early 1980's and are thrilled to be back in the Islands!
Although first drawn to the priesthood by his love of preaching, the liturgy, and the opportunities to work with young people, Fr. Tardiff has found pastoral care to be a special blessing to him. "We have, at the core of our vocation as Christians, a responsibility to minister to the sick, the elderly, the hungry, and the homeless. Each of us must remember that, as members of the Body of Christ, we are called to reach out to our less fortunate brothers and sisters."
Equally important to Father Dick is "ensuring that Christ Church continues to be an inviting and nurturing community for all who seek a closer relationship with our Lord. As an open and affirming parish, we rejoice in the fellowship of all God's children--every one of them!"
